Madras Authors Fest 2015

Odyssey Bookstore has planned a series of programs in connection with the upcoming 376th Anniversary of Chennai. Chennai, then Madras, is believed to be found on August 22 of the year 1639, celebrating this, The Madras Authors Fest 2015 and The Madras Week Sports Quiz are being conducted by Odyssey.
 
The Madras Authors Fest 2015, unique program that features famous authors from the City to have a conversation in front of audience. Well known Authors S. Muthiah and Timeri Murari had a conversation where both shared lot of unknown information about then Madras, their love for the city and their vision towards the same. Authors Tulsi Bhadrinath and Usha Narayanan had a conversation where the audience too enthusiastically participated with the guests. The audience along with the guests hailed the city about how it has retained its cultural heritage despite being one of the fast developing IT hub of the country. The discussion made many feel nostalgic especially the senior spectators, who cheerfully shared experiences of their yesteryears in the city. After the conversation, audience got signed books from the authors.
 
The fest on its final day on August 23rd (Sunday) will have authors, PC Balasubramanian and RV Raman in conversation from 6.30 to 7.30 p.m. All are welcome.
 
Madrascapes, a fun filled drawing competition was also conducted for kids above age 8 which gave children a space for cultivating their imagination by drawing People/locations/life at Madras in earlier times. The main idea behind Madrascapes was to make the young people know the heritage of the city they live in. Deserved kids was provided with prizes from odyssey.
 
The Madras Week Sports Quiz
 
A sports quiz competition for children above age 12 will also be held on August 30th from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m. at Odyssey Adyar. The participation should be as team of 2 (registration required). The topic would be on sports events and personalities of Madras.
