Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has announced the scheme for extending scholarships (educational loans) with the aim to help the educational standards of socially backward students, and students below poverty line.
This scheme is known as `LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship`.
This is meant to provide the financial assistance for parents in the society living below poverty line for their children to pursue higher education.
LIC has appealed that the students must utilise this golden opportunity to achieve their ambitions for higher education.
This educational assistance or scholarship will be given for students pursuing graduate degree courses, or professional courses like medical or engineering.
The students must have procured at least 60% in their 10th & 12th Standard examinations to qualify for this assistance.
The annual income of the parents must be below Rs. 1 Lakh.
Selected students would be given Rs. 10000/- per year as scholarship. It is to be noted that only one member in a family can avail this scheme.
Eligible candidates (students) may apply online for this scholarship.
The last date for application is 23rd September.
