Reservations for Pongal festival travel 120 days in advance from today

Tamil Nadu`s most important festival, Pongal, is to be celebrated on 15th January (2016).
Those who are planning to visit their native places for this occasion have already started booking their travel tickets.
Today (Monday, 14th September) morning, the reservation counters were open to book tickets for travel on 12th January.
Those who have planned to be in their native places 2 days ahead of the Pongal festival to reach before the day of Bhogi on 14th thus undertaking the travel on 12th January.
As there are many people from other states working in Tamil Nadu, the arrangement to reserve 120 days in advance has been introduced in order to avoid last moment rush to book tickets.
There will be severe crowd and competition/rush in getting seats/berths in trains for southern districts in Tamil Nadu.
However, the tickets for travel booking on 12th January are still open as it has not been booked 100% yet.
Reservations for travel booking on 13th January will be open from 14th September. This will facilitate the passenger to reach the native place 1 day in advance of Pongal festival.
