Scorching summer this year in Tamil Nadu is the worst recorded in 5 years

People in large numbers have been put to extreme hardships due to the continuing hot weather long past the usual scheduled summer period.
 
Belying the expectations on the onset of South-west monsoon and subsequent reduction in heat, Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai Metro city and some of the Northern Districts, have experiences increasing hot weather over the last few days.
 
Though the average temperature recorded in the beginning of the month was 33 Degrees, this rose gradually to 37 Degrees. Chennai has experienced temperatures of 34.6 Degrees on 12th September, 35.1 on 13th, 34.7 on 14th, 36.2 on 15th, and 36.9 Degrees on 16th September.
 
However, when comparing, it is found that temperature recorded has been much below 37 Degrees in the month of September over the last few years. During 2014, the maximum recorded temperature in September was 36.7 Degrees. In 2013, it was 35.7 degrees. In 2012, it was 36.8 Degrees. In 2011, it was 36.4 Degrees. In 2010, it was 35.1 Degrees.
 
Apart from Chennai, Madurai has also recorded 39 Degrees as maximum temperature in the last year. However, this year, it has shot up to 40 Degrees. Similar experiences are recorded in Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, and Puducherry.
 
Nevertheless, Chennai Meteorological Centre has announced that there are prospects of rain in Tamil Nadu in the next 5 days.
 
It may rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu over the next 3 days. There a re prospects of wide-spread rain with lightning & thunder in the next 2 days.
