Ban on Manja Thread

The Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner George has announced that a ban is imposed on the manufacture and sale of Manja thread in Chennai. Speaking to the presspersons at Vepperi, he said that the ban will be in existence for 60 days from now.
He also alerted stating that stringent action will be taken on those who are seen importing, manufacturing, selling or using Manja thread. He further added that cases will be filed against such individuals in four different divisions.
To note, there have been continuous mishaps taking place due to the use of Manja thread. It has took off lives of four individuals in the past three years. And during this year, about 190 individuals a so far arrested in such cases.
