A study published in the Journal of Food Science shows that the skin and pulp of gooseberries has more anti oxidants that blueberries and cranberries. The research was conducted by a team from the Campinas State University’s food science and food engineering school departments in Brazil.
According to the study, high levels of phyto chemicals are found in gooseberries. These prevent oxidant stress. Oxidant stress may cause cancer and heart disease.
