The central government has planned to introduce Sin Tax to cigarettes and alcoholic drinks.
A higher official from the central Ministry of Finance informed that provision has been made for this proposal in the Goods & Services Tax Amendment Bill to be presented next year.
However, the official did inform details of the amount of this additional Sin Tax.
It is worth noting here that several countries in the world have adopted the policy of imposing Sin Tax for indulgence in harmful items like cigarettes and alcoholic drinks and gambling.
The preview meeting about the GST (Goods and Services Tax) Bill to be attended by all state finance ministers for discussions is scheduled on 20th November.
