Over 32,219 ration shops that are functioning under cooperative systems is currently working on distributing the basic supplies to people belonging to low income group.
In these shops, there are over 21,779 sellers and 3,856 freemasons working. At this juncture, it is necessary to make a revision in salary to these employees for Chief Minister Jayalalitha has ordered to set up a wage board.
The report sent by this board was verified by the government. Following this, a salary increment was approved by the CM. The consolidated pay for officials working in these ratio shops will be Rs 4000 during the first year. In the following years, the salary range for them will be between Rs 3300 and Rs 8000.
Currently, the consolidated pay offered is Rs 3500 during first year and in the following years, it`s Rs 3000 to 7000.
I have rolled out orders to increase the consolidated payment to Rs 5000 per year during first year of work. This will be increased to Rs 4300 to 12,000 in the following years. I have also ordered to increase the pay for freemasons to Rs 4200 in the first year. This will be then increased to Rs 3900 to 11000 in the following years, said Jayalalitha.
These new wages will come into effect immediately. Against the revised payment, a 63% dearness allowance will be provided.
Further, employees who have worked for more than 15 years will be given 2.5 percent increased pay. There will be an increase in pay by 2.5 percent during each and every year. 10 percent of the consolidated pay will depend on the house rent of the employee.
