Rains lash the city again

Monday`s rain has flooded Jafferkhanpet, West Saidapet, Velachery, Villivakkam, Kolathur, Korattur and RK Nagar. The areas were already inundated because of the rains over the past week. A resident from Kotturpuram has said that his ground floor home was flooded and just as they were about his heave a sigh of relief after Saturday`s rains, this happens.
A resident of Alandur said, (I) thought the ordeal (I) went through after water entered (my) house last week was all over after local authorities used motors to drain the water out four days back. But on Monday afternoon, (I) knew (I) was going to have another sleepless night after water entered (my) house. I thought there won`t be heavy rains for at least few more days. Now, there is water all over my house and I don`t know when the rains will stop and the authorities will drain the water.
Monday`s rains affected places that are not on the low lying list as well. Adyar`s Anna Avenue was one of the worst affected in the area. As traffic came to an almost stand still, the situation worsened. Shopkeepers were forced to close their businesses, with the flooding and the power cuts. In Nungambakkam, Village Road, Pushpa Nagar, Susaipuram, Lake Area and New Tank Street were among the worst affected.
