Tamil Nadu Government`s Disaster Management Team has reported that Chennai Metro City has received 16 cm of rainfall within only a few hours of rain.
The team reported the recent extreme traffic snarl was due to the heavy rains during the evening as the people were returning home from office hours.
The team reported that the rains received after 28th October has exceeded the average expected rainfall for the monsoon season. It informed that there are still prospects of some more rain in the districts of Tamil Nadu and Kanchipuram.
There are prospects of rain in the districts of Ooty, Coimbatore, and Tirupur. The team has also informed that there will be heavy rains on 28th & 29th November in southern Districts of Tamil Nadu.
The disaster management team informed that the estimated details of damages due to recent floods have been submitted to the Prime Minister and the Department of Home Ministry.
