The low depression zone formed over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has stabilised. As it has remained static without any movement, the meteorological centre has announced that there will be very heavy rains in all coastal and delta districts.
Chennai Meteorological Centre Director, Mr. Ramanan, explained that the low depression zone formed in the ocean near Kanyakumari has moved towards West. It is expected to stabilise over the Lakshadweep ocean area at around 8.30 AM on Monday (7th, Dec ).
Rains are expected in the next 24 hours in all coastal districts in Tamil Nadu & Pudhucherry and also some interior districts.
There may be heavy rains in some of the coastal districts. Heavy rains are expected in Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagai, etc (all delta districts).
It may rain heavily in several areas in Thirunelveli, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari and other southern coastal Tamil Nadu districts in the next 2 days.
Chennai Metro city would remain cloudy. There may be heavy rains with thunder in some urban parts of the city.
