Candidates for Medical PG Exam stranded as exam centre changed

Since the All India PG Medical Entrance Test (AIPGMEE) has been shifted from Chennai, aspirants from the State are wondering what they should do. The exam, which was scheduled to be held between Dec. 2 and 8 in Chennai, was postponed due to the floods. Over 7000 aspirants are finding it difficult to get train or air tickets to the other centres in the country.

Speaking about this, an official from the health department has said, (We are) frantically trying to get this issue sorted out by taking to NBE officials.  They (NBE) claimed it was difficult for them to get old examination centre. The NBE had picked some engineering colleges as centre for the online examination. But those colleges, which had their own problem after floods, are now not ready to lend their space out for exams. We tried to convince the Central government but they said there is a sample and logistical problem. Each centre in Chennai can only allot 1,000 students and not beyond that. So they decided to conduct the examination elsewhere.
