While the New Year 2016 is left with just one day, there will be celebrations twinkling all over on the night of 31st December 2015, tomorrow.
However, due to recent rain showers and the floods that followed in Chennai city, the New Year celebration this year has so far not gathered pace like previous years. All star hotels have announced that no celebration will be entertained or arranged this year. Nevertheless, the celebrations are to take place in full swing on Marina Beach and Anna Salai just like other years. The necessary arrangements for the same are taking place in full swing.
Adding to this, as there will be no celebration at star hotels, more crowds is likely on Marina beach. Catering to this possible increase in crowd, extra protection and policemen are to be appointed here. Furthermore, extra 108 ambulance service will also be made available on New Year. In Chennai, there are 41 ambulances functioning for 108 service. On the night of 31st December, 16 more 108 ambulances are to be brought to use. Two of these will be smaller of the kind that can be ridden on the beach sand.
Apart from these, a police official will also be appointed at the control room of 108 ambulance service. This measure is taken in order to regulate New Year celebrations and function in full swing together with the support of policemen, said Prabhudas, an official of 108 ambulance service.
