In an official release, the railways said that, from now on, all diesel locomotives that are released from the loco shed at Golden Rock will be fueled by a blended bio diesel. This will apply for both passenger and freight trains. The release also said, On an average per day, 24,000 litres of high speed diesel is consumed by diesel locomotives here, it added. In line with the Central Government policy of augmenting renewable energy resources for reducing the consumption of fossil fuel, the Railway Board gave orders for creating facilities nationwide so that bio-diesel can be blended with high speed diesel.

According to the release, 5 per cent bio diesel was blended with 95 per cent high speed diesel oil at the time of topping up fuel for the diesel locomotives at the shed.
