Apart from the reservation counters set up in stations & other places by Indian Railways for reservation of train tickets, agencies like IRCTC function online booking for this purpose.
With online booking, a genuine traveler can fill up his family details & affect the money transfer in a matter of minimum of 35 seconds.
However, it has been suspected that certain agents, resorting to using already available data with special software, reserve tickets online far more quickly.
This results in genuine travelers losing their chance of reservation.
Hence, IRCTC has introduced some new security features in online reservation system to prevent this and also to ensure the reservation facility for the genuine travelers. In the new arrangement, a minimum time of 35 seconds will be taken to complete the booking online including payment. No one can book tickets in lesser time.
IRCTC Head Mr. A K Manocha informed on this issue that 35 seconds set is really fast. However, this duration may vary depending on other factors like the internet speed of the booking passenger, his own speed in filling up details, etc. The speed of the website has been set to facilitate booking 250 tickets per second or 15000 tickets per minute. Further, security features have been set up so that no one will be able to enter inside details of the website or disturb it. Hence, the Tatkal tickets booked online will be easily available at IRCTC.
