World No Tobacco Day Campaign by Apollo Cancer Institute

Apollo Specialty hospitals takes pride in commemorating anti tobacco week as a tribute to World No tobacco Day celebrated on the 31st of May. Team of volunteers and employees of Apollo has urged to spread awareness on cancer causing tobacco through flurry of activities, targeting the general public. 

Activities including signature campaigns and Pledges are being organised at two strategic centers of Chennai which is the Sathyam Theatres and at the Ampa Sky Walk Mall.  Pamphlets on smoking hazards and its effects will be distributed to the public who visit the multiplexes through out this week. Since 31st May 2011 more than 1500 people have come forward to pledge against smoking and tobacco chewing. 

The messages ranged from " Quit smoking” to personal notes to friends and relative, one note was also dedicated to actor Rajni Kanth to quit smoking. So far the campaign has really made an impact among the mass.

More than 500 auto drivers came forward to be the brand ambassadors of the campaign to carry this message across to the general public. They not only allowed messages to be fixed to their autos but also came forward to distribute pamphlets to their passengers.  

Members of Apollo family are sure that this message would reach lakhs of people, over a weeks period and will reduce the number of smokers in the city.
