The Tamil Nadu Kidney Research (TANKER) Foundation`s awards will be presented on January 25. This will be the 23rd Annual Charity and Awards Night. This year, the event will be dedicated to Malathi Venkatesan who was a trustee of the foundation. Ms. Venkatesan died last year.
The Chief Guest at the function will be IAS officer Vikram Kapur. The keynote address will be given by Kamal D. Shah, who is the Director of Patient Services at Nephro Plus Dialysis Centre. His topic is ‘Living a normal life despite being on dialysis’.
The Foundation was established in June 1993. Since then, it has provided 1.74 lakh free and subsidised dialysis for over 880 patients. The Foundation runs four dialysis units across Tamil Nadu. All units are subsidised. There are 42 dialysis stations in all.
