The Indian Women`s Cricket team beat world champion Australia in the Twenty 20 International three match series in Adelaide.
The Indians elected to bowl and restricted Australia to 140 after 20 overs. They won the match in 18.4 overs. The second game of the series will be held on Friday in Melbourne. The third game will be played at Sydney on Sunday.
Indian leg spinner Poonam Yadav was the top wicket taker with 2 for 26 in four overs. The other wickets went one each to Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey and Anuja Patil.
The second innings did not start well for the Indians with skipper Mithali Raj being dismissed for four runs. However, it slowly picked up. The Player of the Match was Harmanpreet Kaur who made 46 out of 31 balls. This included six fours and a six. The other top scorers were Smriti Mandhana with 29 and Veda Krishnamurthy with 36.
