Rotary Club of East RA Puram (ERA) along with the Rotary Club of Nugegoda, Sri Lanka, donated four mobile toilets to the Corporation of Chennai today, at the Ripon Building. Mayor of Chennai, M Subramanian inaugurated the facilities.
Contributed to the city at a cost of `4.5lakh a piece, the portable conveniences are to be used in places where the Corporation deems fit. Each is equipped with four toilets for women, four for men, and one for the physically challenged.
The mobile toilets have been fabricated with stainless steel.
The maintenance of the mobile toilets would be done by the civic body. The civic body would place the mobile toilets at locations where the need for such facilities is higher.
According to officials of the civic body, the installation of mobile toilets would also be made for a short period of time on request from organisers of any public meeting.
