In a country which is extremely struggling to attain self-sufficiency of fuel resources, a new invention, an electric fan that saves energy has won awards and accolades across the world.

Though most of us tend to look at the electric fan as a common & ordinary item, this definitely contributes saving electrical energy while reducing environmental pollution.

3 persons from Coimbatore, Mr. Sundar Muruganandan and Mr. Durgacharan have made this new electric fan.

Called Super fan, this saves 33 percent electrical energy.

Usually, 1 unit of electrical energy is required for the current electric fans to run for 13 hours.

However, the new invention super fan, which is computer-controlled, will run for 30 hours while consuming 1 unit of electrical energy.

This has won National Innovation Award, Appliance Design EIT Award, and CII National Energy Award.

Mr. Sunar Muruganandan explains that out of the current 1.5 Crore electricity consumers, even if they change 1 fan in their house replacing it with super fan, 500 MW of electrical power can be saved every year.

Though super fan was not that popular in its year of invention in 2012, it has grown gradually and has come up to sell 1000 fans per year. Just as we control air-conditioner with remote control, super fan can also be controlled by remote for switch in on & off, and changing speed. So, its popularity has been increasing.

Following the Chinese manufacturing system of outsourcing all the components, without any compromise on the quality, super fans are being manufactured. Super fan is sold in foreign countries at Rs. 20000/- per piece. However, in India, it is sold in India at Rs. 3000/- per piece.

Currently, super fans are exported to countries like Bangladesh.. Efforts are under way to obtain the certificates required for export to USA, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
