Number of WhatsApp group members increased up to 256

It was recently announced that the number of users of WhatsApp has crossed 100 Crores.
It was also announced that the subscription charged for the membership was cancelled and the App can be used free.
The news of the the strength of WhatsApp Group members being raised to 256 has been popularly received in India.
At the starting period, the strength of WhatsApp group members was limited to 50. It was raised to 100 in the year 2014. Now, this has been raised to 256.
However, as this new facility is being tested currently, all users cannot avail this facility.

In the 1st phase, this new facility is being introduced for Android & IOS. This will be shortly extended to other platforms like Windows & Blackberry, etc.
