Chennai Mayor Duraiswamy: Social Welfare Halls can now be availed free

Chennai Metro City Mayor Saidai Duraiswamy announced today that Corporation owned social welfare Halls can now be availed free of charge.

A brief from his speech in the Corporation council:

Currently, Chennai City Croporation’s Social Welfare Halls can be reserved in advance for organizing functions, etc.

The yearly income thus earned is Rs. 1.32 Crores.

From now, these Social Welfare Halls will be given to the public free of charge.

Only the maintenance charges will be recovered from the public using them. This will be exclusively used fro the proper maintenance of the Social Welfare Community Halls.

Separate bank accounts will be opened for this purpose and the amount collected from the public who avail the Social Welfare Halls will be deposited in these accounts of the respective wards/regions.

This new facility is especially announced on the occasion of the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s birthday.
