People nowadays pay a lot more attention to their diets than ever before. But, some mistakes are still bring made. Here are a few.

Many do not add enough protein to breakfast. This results in hunger pangs not long after you`ve eaten. So, if you have having a bowl of cereal with a banana, add healthy fat to your food. Maybe chopped almonds? Or have a hard boiled egg along with the cereal. This will keep you full until lunch time.

If the time between breakfast and lunch of over four hours, experts recommend a snack. However, many misinterpret the size of a snack portion. A snack is typically less than 200 calories. It should contain protein or healthy fat or both. Also, eat the snack only if you are hungry.

Salads for lunch are healthy. However, it depends on what goes in the salad and the dressing. Adding croutons, bacon bits, cheese or using a creamy dressing adds more calories than it necessary. Also, keep in mind not add too much chicken, avocado or olive oil.

The belief that eating proteins instead of carbs is misplaced. Carbohydrates help fill your stomach and adding just a bit to your dinner will help you eat lesser overall. It also helps get more fibre which aids in weight loss overall.

You must eat what you love. This means that you can have a lice of pizza for lunch once in a while. Indulging in a bit of something you love will avoid binge eating when you get a chance.

Alcohol contains a lot off calories. Many completely miss out on counting the calories from their cocktails.

Do not try out fad diets that promise quick weight loss or  avoiding a food group. Instead, make lifestyle changes which will have long term effects.
