Prices of vegetables slashed down in Chennai

The rates of vegetables like tomatoes and ladyfingers have drastically come down in Chennai.

During the month of January, due to less inflow, the prices of tomatoes, onions and beans were sold more than Rs.40 a kilo. At this juncture, since the harvest is more, the prices are coming down.

Tomatoes in the Chennai Wholesale Vegetable Market in Koyambedu was sold for Rs. 7 per kilo. Ladiesfingers were sold for Rs..10 per kilo. Similarly the drumsticks which were sold for Rs. 80 last month has now come down to Rs .15.

Vegetable vendors forecast that the prices of vegetables will be stable even during the month of April.
