The All India Council for Technical Education will be releasing its approved list of engineering colleges in a week’s time. Now a candidate will have easy access to some basic details about institutions under its purview across the country. There are about 583 engineering colleges are affiliated to Anna University in Tamil Nadu. There are 2.89 lakh seats in these colleges. Out of which 2 Lakhs seats will be filled by Anna University through counselling.
Private and self financing engineering colleges will handover certain seats to Anna University to be filled up by counseling. 50 percent seats of the minority private engineering colleges are filled by Anna University. The University will fill 65 percent seats of self financing private colleges by counselling. The balance seats are being filled up by the college administration. Last year, 1 lakhs 69 thousand 795 seats were filled up by counselling. Nearly 40 thousand seats were lying vacant. No one joined in the seven private engineering colleges.
Anna University has now announced that the online registration for application forms under the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) for the academic year 2016-17 will begin on April 15. List of approved colleges for the year 2016-2017 will be released by AICTE during the first week of April which will enable the students to get a clear picture about the college.
