Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has ordered that the schools must not compel the students to buy books other than those prescribed by NCERT (National Council for Educational Research & Training),
Students studying in CBSE schools are using the books prescribed by NCERT.
CBSE has received several serious complaints that some of the schools are compelling the students to buy other books and bring them to school.In this scenario, the Additional Director of CBSE, Mr. Suganth Sharma, has sent a circular to all CBSE schools in the country.
The circular emphasises that it is not a healthy practice to compel the students to buy books other than those prescribed by NCERT, NCERT books form the basis of CBSE study course. The CBSE schools can buy the required NCERT books from the NCERT Sales centres. Thy can also download these books.
The school must inform the parents and the students about these facilities so that they can buy or download the required NCERT books.
