Election nominations for the Tamil Nadu State Assembly begin day after tomorrow. The election commission has announced the rules to be followed by the candidates. State Assembly elections for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are taking place on 16th May. Filing of nominations will commence day after tomorrow and will continue till 29th of this month.
 
Candidates contesting in a constituency should file their nominations with the concerned election office. A candidate can contest in 2 constituencies. A candidate can file four nominations for a constituency. If there is a mistake in a nomination, the correct  one will be taken.
 
A general candidate for contesting an Assembly election will have to make a security deposit of Rs. 10,000. A candidate belonging to Scheduled Caste / Tribe will have to make a security deposit of Rs. 5,000 (Five Thousand Only). Every candidate should open a separate bank account. All his expenses should be done through this bank account. 3 vehicles including the candidate should be parked within the range of 100 meters  near the election officer`s office. Only five people will be permitted inside the election officer office.
