Soon, Uber drivers may start charging late customers

Uber is now allowing drivers to start charging passengers after waiting for two minutes. They hope that this would avoid delays by the customers after ordering the cars. The driver also has the option to leave the passenger altogether if the customer is not quick enough. The new move is currently being experimented in New York, New Jersey, Dallas and Phoenix. Reports say that it has not been rolled out on a permanent basis yet.

In an official blog post titled Make the Most of Your Time, Uber said, While we encourage riders to only request a ride when they are ready, we understand that sometimes they are running a little behind. In these cases drivers will be compensated for the extra minutes they need.
