On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, when it is traditionally believed of the purchase of gold will bring prosperity, the jewellery merchants are set to increase their business . They are introducing a variety of jewellery items with new designs including lightweight jewellery.
The jewellery shops have set a target of 500 percent more business on this occasion compared to the daily average business.
A variety of attractive offers is made available for the customers who intend to buy some gold (jewellery) as per the strong traditional belief that buying gold on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya will bring prosperity to them. So, there is a lot of rush to buy jewellery on this day. Akshaya Tritiya falls on Monday, 9th May.
The general secretary of Chennai Gold and Diamond jewellery merchants Association Mr S. Santhakumar informed that the people are eager to buy some gold jewellery on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya. So, as per the desire of the buying public, lots of jewellery items with new designs have been put up for sales.
Traditional jewellery items with designs based on god`s figures, peacock, lotus, and swan are always popular.
The current younger generation women prefer light-weight jewellery items. So, lots of light-weight jewellery items are on offer this year.
Especially items like Solapur necklace, Kerala aaram, chains, and bangles, and nose-rings with more than 100 designs are on offer.
Special arrangements have been made to handle the extra crowd of visitors on Akshaya Tritiya day. Especially, security arrangements have been intensified.
Special additional counters have been set up and more shop attendants have been deployed.
A target of sales exceeding 400 to 500 percent as compared to the normal average business has been set
It is an age-old traditional belief that those who worship the Goddess of Wealth, Mahalakshmi will be blessed with all things good. Hence, with the noble thought that every living being in the world should prosper with all good things, a special Lakhmi-Kubera Homam (pooja) is being organised in the Chennai Besant Nagar Ashtalakshmi Temple.
This special homam will be performed from 9.00 AM till 11.30 AM on Akshaya Tritiya day ( Monday, 9th May).
The items kept in the special pooja will be offered free fort he devotees.
The presiding deity of Goddess Lakshmi will be specially adorned and will offer Darshan to the devotees.
