A brief on the changes in gold price over the last 10 years:

On the Akshaya Tritiya day in the year 2006, the price of 1 gram of 22 karat gold was only Rs. 897/-.  In 2007, the price reduced further and was Rs. 870/-. However, during this period, there was a huge financial crisis encountered in the USA with a number of banks going bankrupt.

This grave financial situation resulted in the gold price rocketing upwards. So, on the Akshaya Tritiya day in 2008, the gold price had shot up to be Rs. 1089/- per gram. This was the 1st time that the price touched 4-digits.

In 2009, the price of gold per gram touched Rs. 1381/-. In 2010, it was Rs. 1696/-.

In the year 2011, on the Akshaya Trtiya day, the price of 1 gm gold crossed Rs. 2000/- and was sold at Rs. 2032/-.

With the US government taking some measures to redeem the sagging economy, this affected the international exchange rates. So, the price of gold per gram shot up to Rs. 2717/- in 2012.

However, facing the fluctuations in the world economy, the gold price was also swinging and during the year 2013, the price stood at Rs. 2543/-.

This downturn proved to be temporary and in 2014, the price shot up to Rs. 2800/-.

The gold price continued to fluctuate as per the financial policies of the USA and European countries. In the year 2015, on Akshaya Tritiya day, the gold price reduced slightly and was Rs. 2537/-.
