Heavy rainfall expected in northern districts of Tamil Nadu

The well marked low pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka moved slightly northwestwards and lay over Sri Lanka and adjoining areas of Gulf of Mannar and southwest Bay of Bengal .It would move north-northwestwards and may concentrate into a depression during next 48 hours.
Heavy to very heavy falls at a few places over north Tamil Nadu & Puducherry and isolated heavy falls over south Tamil Nadu on 17th and isolated heavy rainfall over north Tamil Nadu & Puducherry on 18th May 2016.
Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph would prevail along and off Tamil Nadu & Puducherry coast during 17 th to 18th May 2016.Sea condition would be rough to very rough along and off Tamil Nadu& Puducherry coast during 176th-18 th May 2016 morning. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along & off Tamil Nadu & Puducherry coasts during next 72 hrs.
