The well-marked low pressure area over Sri Lanka and adjoining Gulf of Mannar has intensified into a depression. It is now stationed 240 kms away from Chennai. Because of this, there will be heavy rains in Chennai,Kanchipuram and Thiruvalluvar Districts. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.
Regional Meteorological Centre director Balachandran while speaking to the media said, The well-marked low pressure area over Sri Lanka and adjoining Gulf of Mannar has intensified into a depression. It is now stationed 240 kms away from Chennai. Because of this, there will be heavy rains in the majority of northern districts. There will be heavy rain or heavier rains in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Thiruvalluvar districts. There will be sporadic rains in southern districts. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea for the next 48 hours. There will be gale in the land.
