The special court inquring the disproportionate assets case involving Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha and close associate Sasikala, on Thursday passed the order stating that it would proceed with recording the statement of the accused under section 313 (1)(b) of criminal procedure code on July 27.
Special judge B M Mallikarjunaiah also issued oral instructions to the counsel representing the accused to ensure personal appearance of all the accused on that day.
The court rejected the plea put forward by counsel for Sasikalaa Natarajan for deferring the proceedings in view of the pendency of the petition before the Karnataka high court for recall of a witness.
Sasikalaa Natarajan, close friend of Jayalalithaa, V N Sudhakarana, J Elavarasi are co-accused in the case.
