It is not mandatory for the students to take up the National Eligibility and Entrance Test NEET) for the ongoing year, according to an ordinance signed by President Pranab Mukherjee. The ordinance was passed by the cabinet, putting back orders by Supreme Court that wanted NEET to be mandatory.
  • Implementation of NEET this year had three solid oppositions. The three include
  • Medical aspirants are following the old syllabus
  • There is not enough time to get adapted to the new pattern
  • Most student study in their regional languages
The President took steps by receiving legal advice in this regard and kept the state board out of the ambit for NEET 2016.

This ordinance targets partiality and reversed Supreme Court’s verdict that states that all the deemed universities, government colleges and private medical colleges will get encompassed under NEET.

Over 15 and above states had opposition on NEET and complained issues stating about different syllabus and language while discussing with the state health ministers meet that was held recently.
