Nationalised Banks plan to recruit employees by conducting campus interviews

It is shortly expected that the time has arrived for the nationalized banks to recruit employees through campus interviews.

It is gathered that the newly formed Bank Employees Board has started discussing with the central government on the practical possibilities of recruitments through campus interviews.

As per the prevailing recruitment system, the nationalized banks cannot recruit through campus interviews as done by the private banking sector.

The Mumbai High Court had given the verdict in the year 2013 that it is against the law for the nationalized banks to recruit employees through campus interviews.

So, it was understood from a senior official (who did not want to disclose his/her identity) that discussions are being held with the central government as to how to legally approach this ban. The official also observed that there has been a huge block in the development of nationalized banks mainly due to the shortage of skilled and efficient employees to be in a position to compete with the private sector banks and the shortage of employees.
