The success of the pilot Training Program “Certificate Program in Clinical Trial Management” conducted by the AU-KBC Research Centre of Anna University Chennai and AHERF (Apollo Hospitals Educational and Research Foundation) of the Apollo Hospitals Group, motivated the two organizations to expand the scope of collaboration for Training and Research in the domain.
The innovative ‘Certificate Program in Clinical Trial Management’ was developed with the active involvement of leading academicians from Anna University and a senior team from AHERF, pioneers in the field of Clinical Research. The course is designed to provide hands-on-experience with the background of a hospital and also by working alongside consultants participating in International Clinical Trials and prepares the candidates to be industry-ready.
Strengthening the association, Prof. Mannar Jawahar, Vice Chancellor of Anna University Chennai and Dr. Preetha Reddy, Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group, signed the MOU on 19th July 2011 at Chennai. The MOU envisages extending the Joint Certificate Program in Clinical Trials to the other AHERF centres in India. The pilot joint program with its academic rigour combined with the application focus was received very enthusiastically by the industry, and motivated the decision to step up the pace of the program rollout.
Dr. Preetha Reddy, Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group, said, “India is emerging as one of the fastest growing clinical research destinations. It is vital that we rapidly build trained health manpower to support the growing need for Clinical Researchers encompassing drug discovery, development, therapy and marketing to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Our joint endeavour with Anna University will help us build a larger talent pool to meet the national need for trained personnel in Clinical Trial Management.”
