The central cabinet ministry approves the Chennai Metro Rail expansion project

The central cabinet ministry has accorded approval for the Chennai Metro Rail Expansion project. Now, the project to extend the Metro Rail from Washermanpet to Wimco nagar has been approved.
The central government has allocated funds of Rs. 713 Crores for this project. Further, approval has also been given to increase the quantity of food products under the public distribution system.
The central cabinet ministry has allotted an additional 62307 tons of food items to the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Nagaland, which have not implemented the Food Safety Act.
The cabinet ministry has also granted approval for starting banking services in the post offices.
The Minister for Information Technology, Mr. Ravishankar Prasad, informed that the banking services will be commenced in 650 post offices before September, 2017.
