Celebration of 150 Years Of Income-Tax India

His Excellency Shri.Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor Of Tamil Nadu graced the occasion as chief Guest of the celebration on 24th July 2011 at a Sivagami Pethachi Audutorium , Chennai Ms. Prema Malni Vasan, IRS, Chief commissioner of income Tax, Chennai - I, CCA welcomed the chief Guest , the awardees, special invitees and others. Shri. CA.V.Murali Charted accountant and chairman, Board of studies, ICAI, New Delhi addressed the august gathering. Thereafter a short film (150 years of IT: A journey across 3 centuries) depicting the history of income Tax in India was screened.
His Excellency Shri.Surjit Singh Barnala, Governer of Tamil Nadu gave his presidential Address which is enclosed. Governor Honoured the following top taxpayers.
1. Individual top taxpayer: Shri laxmi Narayanan (vice chairman, Cognizant Technologies)
2. Non- Corporate top tax payer: M/s Salem central Co-operative Bank, Salem
3. Corporate top taxpayer: M/S Shrram Transport Finance Company
The special invitees are Dr. Shantha of Adayar cancer institute, Shri.Kamal Hassan, Smt.Sivasankari(Tamil Writer) and Smt.Padma Sunaramaniyam (Bharatha Natyam expontet).They are honoured of income Tax, Chennai -II, Shri D. Ravindran,Cheif Commissioner of Income Tax, Chennai -IV and Shri.S.Sendamarai Kannan, Chief commissioner of Income Tax, Trichy & Madurai.
