The job of the police is one of 24-hour tension and mental pressure and the Chennai Police has been performing with that. The new Police Commissioner T.K Rajendran has ordered for conducting Yoga classes for the city police in an effort to relieve and reduce the mental tension.
It is explained that the Police Commissioner has taken this initiative with due consideration of the health of both the men and women police in Chennai and also to reduce/relieve their mental tension while performing their duties.
Accordingly, the police personnel was given yoga training in 26 places in Chennai today (Saturday, 4th June).
Commissioner T.K Rajendran participated in the yoga training conducted at the Egmore Rajarathnam Stadium for the armed and traffic police.
The yoga training was conducted in 26 places, including Kilpauk St George High School, Mogappair Velammal High School, Bharathi Women’s College in North Chennai, and Theagaraya College.
Sessions on Suryanamaskaram, breathing exercises, and meditation (Dhyanam) were conducted.
731 police personnel participated in the North Zone. 891 participated in the South zone. 715 participated in the East zone. 631 participated in the West Zone. This made up for a total of 4500 police personnel given yoga training.
Additional Commissioners Seshasayee, Abhay Kumar Singh, Soh Chennai Joint (Traffic) Commissioner Bhavaneeswari, 41 Additional Deputy Commissioners and more than 250 inspectors participated in the training.
