There was a brief outage of the world’s most popular and largest video-sharing platform, YouTube. This occurred early today (Thursday, 23rd June).
The failure lasted a few minutes showing an error on the main page. It is yet to be confirmed whether it was a global failure.
During the downtime, the YouTube website showed a long line of code along with the text saying,
There was a small notification, ‘Sorry, something went wrong. A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation. If you see them, send them this information as text (screenshots frighten them),’
After a few minutes, the site back online.
Earlier this month, YouTube rolled out a new feature dubbed as `Smart Offline` in India which allows users to download videos at cheaper night time data rates offered by mobile operators in India.
When a user taps on the grey arrow to download a video offline, a prompt will appear, giving him/her the option to "save overnight" using the mobile operator`s discounted night data plan.
