Prices of vegetables have come down

Vegetables are supplied to Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts from Chennai Koyambedu Wholesale Market. There is an increase in supply of vegetables from various parts of Tamil Nadu as well as from other states to Koyambedu market.
Though there are plentiful of vegetables available in the market,there are no takers for it. Because of this the prices of vegetables have come down drastically when compared to last week.
V R Soundararajan, advisor to the Koyambedu Wholesale Traders Association while speaking about this said: The schools were reopened after summer vacations. At this point of time people have spent all their money in children’s school uniforms and fees. They did not get the expected income. So many of them are not interested in buying vegetables. That is the reason for this price fall. However vegetables like drumsticks and potatoes are selling high because of less supply.
