Prime Minister Modi to inaugurate free internet reading facility Swayam for students from 15th August

The 12th Convocation Ceremony at SRM University, located in Kattankulathur, Chennai was celebrated in grand style.
The SRM Univeristy Trust Board Vice-president Mr. H. Devaraj participated as the special guest.
In his address to the gathering on this occasion, he informed that it is not a good news that the students have shown reduced interest in joining engineering courses and there were 1 Lakh vacant seats.
The main reason for this situation is that lots of engineering graduates are without jobs. The reason for this is that the courses have not made them job-ready. This situation has to change.
The plan for some foreign university professors to conduct training classes to improve the technical knowledge of the students has been implemented.
The students have to make full utilization of the free internet reading service ‘Swayam’ which offers classes in 10 regional languages covering 500 syllabic and improve their learning and skills.
In order to give the due importance to the Indian Culture, courses on Yoga have been introduced in 6 universities.
The students have to learn about culture apart from their subjects of learning. Education without awareness of culture will not be useful to the society. The students will have to strive to add more skills along with their education.
813 students were given the Degree Certificates during the function.
