List of nominees to become the next RBI governor

There are four names making the rounds for becoming the next RBI Governor. These are Deputy Governor Urjit Patel, former Deputy Governors Rakesh Mohan and Subir Gokarn, and Chair Managing Director of SBI, Arundhati Bhattacharya.
One of the senior officials stated that the list of suggested names for becoming the next RBI governor is shortlisted with four names now. He added that a new fiscal policy committee will also be formed very soon. The present governor of RBI, Raghuram Rajan is not set to request for extension of his term of office. He is now likely to get back to education department. This has put everyone in the business world in awe.
Following this, selection of next RBI governor is gathering pace. Out of the 6 new members with the fiscal policy committee of RBI, three of them are to be recruited afresh. It is expected that the selection committee that will select these three candidate will include Raghuram Rajan. If things take place as per plans, the new fiscal policies are likely to get drafted on 1st of August, according to officials.
