Indias pharmaceutical exports continued their lead over China

Commerce & Industry Ministry has mentioned that India`s pharmaceutical exports continued their lead over China in 2015. India`s Pharma exports grew to USD 1254 Crores in 2015 recording a growth of 8 percent. China increased its exports of Pharma products grew to USD 694 Crores.
India`s exports of pharma products to the US jumped by 23.4 per cent to USD 474 Crores last year. At the same time China`s pharma exports to the US increased by 15 per cent to USD 134 Crores in the same period.
India also maintained its lead with growth in EU and Africa. India has recorded exports of USD 154 Crores and USD 304 Crores respectively, while China`s exports to EU and Africa showed a declining trend in both the markets
India is a global hub of generic medicines. The market size of the country`s pharma industry is estimated at over USD 2000 Crores.
