B.E Engineering course: only 51000 admissions - 1.34 lakh seats unfilled

Counselling sessions have been in progress over the last 2 weeks for the students who applied for engineering courses after completing +2.

The students have not been keen on joining engineering courses over the last few years.

1 Lakh seats were vacant last year. It is expected to be even more during this year.

Only 7 more days of counselling are scheduled. So far, only 51428 students have joined engineering courses.134242 seats are vacant.

It is understood that with the remaining 1 week, a maximum possible 10000 students may join engineering courses. So, 1.25 Lakh seats will remain unfilled.

The counselling session for the open community students started on 27th June in Anna University. The counselling will end on 21st July.

So far, 25264 students under Open Community, 12218 students under Backward community, 1374 students from BCM, 8163 students MBC (most backward community), 3848 students from SC, 470 students from SCA, and 91 students from ST, for a total of 51428 students, have joined engineering courses.

With the counselling sessions set to conclude in 7 days, 132216 seats are unfilled in self-financed colleges.

There are 1964 seats unfilled in the member colleges of Anna University and 62 seats are unfilled in colleges with government assistance.
