What will be the seating capacity in Amma theatres?

Films have been the most prominent entertainment diversion for the public.Considering this aspect, Chennai city Mayor Saidai Duraisamy has announced that Amma’ theatres will be opened for the public to enjoy watching movies at cheaper rates.

The construction department officials of Chennai Corporation commenced the selection of places for Amma theatres. Puliyanthoppu, Basin Bridge, T Nagar, Ramavaram, and Padi were selected for construction of Amma theatres. Part of Amm Kalai Arangam (Shenoy Nagar) and Sir P T Theagarayar Arangam (T Nagar), owned by the Chennai corporation, were also selected.

The draft plans for Amma theatre construction are also ready.

In this stage of progress, the Chennai Metro City Corporation Officials are planning to review other aspects such as safety of the theatres, seating arrangement/facility, and the price of tickets with the central government’s National Films Development Corporation of India.

A corporation official; explained that during the 1st phase, 7 Amma theatres will be inaugurated. In the next phase, analytical review of the prospects of opening Amma Theatre in the Corporation’s commercial complexes will be undertaken.

The seating capacity of the 7 selected places will vary according to the locality. Particularly, there will be more seating capacity in the place selected in T Nagar.

NFDC (The National Film Development Corporation of India) members will approve the seating capacity after the discussions and review. The other aspects like ticket price, safety, and release new films will also be discussed.

Activities are being undertaken in order to inaugurate Amma Theatres before the City Administration Elections.
