WI-FI likely in 669 Chennai Corporation parks

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has ordered that WI-FI facilities should be provided in the 669 parks maintained by Chennai Corporation. Following the order of the Chief Minister, the Chennai Corporation is exploring the modalities for this.
Chennai Corporation is maintaining 503 main parks and 166 roadside parks. Moreover Chennai Corporation is also creating new parks with the participation of private companies.
Since the parks are developed, many film shootings are taking place now. So far the Chennai Corporation has not charged for these shootings. Henceforth the Chennai Corporation has decided to collect shooting charges.
Chennai Corporation has also decided to upload the videos of the park’s important features in the YouTube so that it can draw lots of crowds
Now following the orders of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, the Chennai Corporation will first identify 20 parks to commission Wi-Fi hotspots. The civic body is likely to identify a park measuring 12 acres along the Marina Beach, Nageswara Rao Park, Natesan Park, Panagal Park, Sivan Park, May Day Park and Anna Nagar Tower Park for the facility.
