700 Flipkart employees lose their job

As a move towards cost-cutting, India’s ecommerce giant Flipkart has laid off 700 of its employees. Those who do not perform well are shown the door. Actions are taken against about 1000 poor performing employees. Sources say that this move is done so as to keep the company up and running with full vigor.

This lay off accounts to 1 to 2 percent of overall Flipkart employees. The company has been making changes with its business model in the recent time period. Apart from this, Flipkart investors are lowering down the value of the company.

Speaking about this, the Flipkart Spokesman said that the company has taken action on poor performing employees, but he failed to disclose details about number of employees sent home.

Those who do not perform well will be given an opportunity to better themselves. If they continue with poor performance, they will have to look for other jobs. It is not just Flipkart does this, but all the other companies. This is one of the common practices with ecommerce sites. At the same time, those performing well will be given with promotion and salary increment.
