Amma weekly market to soon get launched

Mayor Saidai Duraisamy had announced that a weekly Amma market will be set up where all essential products and provisions for households. Works to select locations to set up Amma weekly market are at present taking place. A total of eight places including O.M.R road, Poonamallee road, Arumbakkam, Mint bridge, Virugambakkam main road, backside of Udhayam theatre near Ashok pillar, etc are selected.
 
In all these eight places, Amma weekly market will be set up cyclically. Chennai corporation is in full swing works to set up these markets. The public can very soon buy items from the Ammar market.
 
Amma market will sell items from 25 different sectors including agriculture, horticulture, plantation sector, Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business, Khadi Village Industries Board, Women Development Authority, Indian / Homeo Medical Directorate, Khadi Village Industries Board, handloom sector, SC Welfare, Tribal Welfare, prisons, fisheries, livestock sector, Backward Classes Welfare, Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Economic Development Corporation, Tamil Nadu Women`s Tiger Welfare Society, forestry, salt company, Oil, the cooperative sector, the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, etc.
 
On behalf of agriculture, rice, millets, corn, sorghum, maize, and other cereals will be available. Oil, fruits and vegetables from horticulturist and plantation sector, greens, beets, flowers; homeo, siddha, yunani and ayurvedic medicines on behalf of Indian homeo medicines; cotton, polyester, kadhi, saree, dhothi, chudithar, towels, readymade, etc on behalf of handloom sector; handbags, makeup products, needles, bead chains, herbs, baskets, etc will also be made available. Bakery bun, biscuit, bread, halwa, milk gova, etc will also be sold too. On behalf of fishery department, colorful fishes, fishes, prawn, dry fish, country chicken, cooked food, broiler chicken, turkey, pigeon, and all their eggs, and milk powder, butter, ghee, milk, lassi, badam powder, curd, etc will also be available here.

In addition to these, on behalf of minority welfare, gold and silver jewelries and artificial jewelries will also be sold in these markets. All basic facilities in these markets including bathroom and drinking water facilities will be made by the corporation itself. No extra charge will be imposed at any store.

Amma weekly market is likely to get launched on 25th of August and the necessary works are taking place in full swing
