Recommendations in new Motorcycle Vehicles Act

A revision in Motorcycle Vehicles Act was introduced and filed at Lok Sabha yesterday. Compulsory helmet for kids aging above 4 years, relaxation in rule about compulsory helmet for Sikhs, etc were some of the suggestions in the revision. Those aging lesser than 14 years should mandatorily wear seat belts while traveling in car. Those who violate these rules will be imposed with a fine amount of up to Rs 1000. The bill also mentioned that most motorists wear helmet just for the sake of escaping from fine. This should be avoided and awareness about real safety reason for wearing helmet should be created.

The educational qualification of license applicants should be ensured right at the time of sanctioning license. Driving license of those who violate traffic rules, drunk and driving, using mobile phone while driving, take the wrong route, etc should be seized. If they repeat such mistake, their driving license must be suspended for about three months. A fine of Rs 15,000 should be imposed on those who keep continuing the same mistake. A fine of Rs 1000 and one year imprisonment should be applicable on those who make severe crimes. These were some of the other suggestions and recommendations included in the bill.
